In 2013, at the age of 46, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was told that I would eventally need a heart transplant. In November of that same year, I suffered a heart attack which required the surgeon on call to perform coronary angioplasty, a procedure to open clogged vessels of the heart. Thankfully, that increased my heart function and I was able to live a “normal” life for the next 11 years. I was able to enjoy special moments with my wife, daughters, and grandchildren.

In 2023, the same year I lost my wife of 30 years, my health started decline and in March/April 2024 to severely decline. I was diagnosed with Cardiorenal syndrome. My kidneys started to fail because of my heart failure. The only option I had at this point was to not give up and choose life. I am not ready to leave my family. I was transfered from Beaumont Hospital to Henry Ford Hospital to be evaluated for a heart/kidney transplant.
