Help Scott Get Camping Again!
Scott loves traveling the United States. He and his wife Sherry love the outdoors camping, fishing and visiting different National Parks throughout the Country. He and Sherry live in Casper, Wyoming, which gives them access to many outdoor activities that they love.
Scott was diagnosed with diabetes approximately 10 years ago. During the last 2 to 3 years through diet and exercise he was able to gain control over his diabetes. We were all so proud of him and his accomplishment.
In July of 2023 his calcium level reached a critical level and he was hospitalized for 3 to 5 days. During that period John was told by the Nephrologist that he had Stage 5 Renal Failure. BIG SHOCK! In a matter of weeks Scott went from feeling GREAT.. to Stage 5 Renal Failure and now on Dialysis 3 to 4 times a week.
Big change in lifestyle.. traveling and camping seemed to be no longer an option. Learning to arrange your life around dialysis was depressing for Scott. Scott heard about the option of at home Dialysis. He embraced learning about the process and the machinery and he now does his Dialysis at home.
Scott’s goal has been to have a Kidney transplant. He has been clear on this goal to his family since being diagnosed with Stage 5 Renal Failure. Two family members have passed the first phase of becoming a donor for Scott. In learning about the Kidney transplant process, Scott will have to remain close to the Transplant Center in Denver Colorado for 4 to 6 weeks after the transplant. This cost is not covered by insurance.
To help with the financial burden of Scott’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live Midwest-West Transplant Program, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, and are held and administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. We are asking for your help by donating to help cover these out of pocket expenses after the Transplant.
If you are able, please click on the link below to donate to help out with these expenses. Thank you SO much for your help.
