Family and friends of Bertrum Kelley are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Three years ago on October 27th, our life changed forever, my husband Bertrum Kelley suffered a massive heart attack. Thankfully, I was home that night and administrated CPR until the ambulance arrived despite the best efforts had to be revived multiple times before reaching the hospital the heart attack lead to severe complications, including the destruction of his intestines and kidney failure he spent two months on life-support and was left with only 60 cm of his small intestines he has been depending on TPN, tube feeding and IV fluids to survive despite his struggles he has remain resilient and hopeful. His condition known as short bowel syndrome requires him to use IV fluids to stay hydrated and manages his symptoms. He is currently on 1000 bags of fluid and TPN again, every day over the years has faced numerous hospitalizations due to infection sepsis and Oregon failure but continues to fight with incredible strength and faith. Berturm needs an intestinal transplant to prolong his life to improve his quality of life. unfortunately, this procedure is not available in Houston Texas where we live so we traveled to UPMC hospital in Pittsburgh PA for transplant evaluation , where he end up being sick and admitted in the hospital here in Pittsburgh the out-of-pocket expensive for this lifesaving procedure is 10,000.
