Living with chronic kidney disease. My name is Roderick Evans, and I have Chronic Kidney disease, called FSGS. Many of you, dear friends, can relate to having an illness or one of your family members having an illness, due to this imperfect world that we all live in. My journey as a sick person living with chronic kidney disease started in my teen years at the age of 15 or 16. You know as teenagers we’re not thinking about Chronic Illnesses; rather we’re full of energy and feel like we can conquer the world. However, this monster of chronic sickness is attacking my body; causing me to slow down on life’s many activities; that we can enjoy with family and friends.
After being diagnosed with the disease I started on dialysis and remained on it for 10 years and with the help of Jehovah, I maintained my health by watching my diet, taking my medicine and following my Doctor’s Instructions and doing my dialysis treatment as prescribed.
In 2006 I was blessed with a kidney, that was donated to me from my nephew, who has a very big heart when it comes to helping people, I’m so thankful to have him as a nephew. The kidney I received from my nephew lasted 14 years which is a blessing, the doctors said that I took good care of it and did well; unfortunately, a new kidney doesn’t last forever in this system.
In 2019 that kidney started to decline; because FSGS resurfaced, so in 2020 I returned to dialysis in hope of receiving another kidney, I prayed to receive a new kidney so that I can continue to live and enjoy my life with family and friends without being on dialysis.
Well on Friday September 6, 2024, I received a call from Tampa General Hospital, saying that I have a living donor who is willing to give me a Kidney, oh how happy my wife and I are and thanks to Jehovah I can receive a new Kidney, what a Blessing.
The transplant will take place in Florida at Tampa General Hospital, and we’ll have a lot of expenses, such as hospital expenses, co-pays, travel, housing, and rent after we leave the hospital because we must remain in Florida for a minimum of 3 months, that is why we need your assistance to help with some of these necessary expenses. My wife and I would really appreciate your generous donations, which are tax deductible. On behalf of my wife and I, Thank you very much!My family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in my honor, Roderick Evans to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation. I chose to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button.
