Celeste is an active, healthy pillar of the community. She is admired by many for her work bringing new life to distressed residential and commercial properties providing high quality, affordable rentals to the Phoenix and surrounding areas.Summer of 2023, Celeste survived a devastating spinal cord injury when an antelope appeared in the path of her motorcycle on a country road in Montana.Since her injury, Celeste’s active lifestyle has completely changed. Paralyzed from the waist down, Celeste is now a full time wheelchair user. A seated life comes with many challenges, especially for an active person. Working on construction sites is now out of the question for Celeste. Intense spasticity and nerve pain are a new constant. Bladder and bowel incontinence is a daily frustration. Loss of independence challenges her emotional wellbeing. A previously very high functioning person, Celeste now struggles with the physical tasks of daily life.An avid long distance motorcyclist, she has always enjoyed road trips in her 1972 Volkswagen Bus. Celeste has touched many lives as a champion roller derby skater and team trainer. She also loves dancing to live music, gardening, working out, cooking and sewing.Besides the rental business, Celeste and her husband Rick, run a small commercial construction company where they work hand in hand with a loyal team of skilled contractors doing much of the work themselves. Celeste is someone who gives more than she receives. There is a medical procedure that can offer Celeste some hope for recovery. In recent years, spinal cord stimulation with stem cell therapy has produced impressive results for SCI patients around the world. This procedure is not yet offered in the US or Canada. Based in Bangkok, Verita Neuro brings this cutting-edge procedure to the Americas at their clinic inside the international hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico.Celeste has personally spoken with several of their patients. Every single one has told her that they would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend it and do it again if given the chance. Being out of the country, this procedure is not covered by Celeste’s insurance. The surgical stimulator implant and programming, stem cell therapy and five weeks of intensive physical therapy along with associated costs come to $110,200.Since leaving the hospital in August 2023, Celeste has been working very hard to physically prepare herself to take full advantage of this procedure and therapy. Celeste works out daily lifting weights, swimming, riding an FES bike and more. She practices clinical therapy at Touchstone Rehabilitation and Zebrafish Neuro. Celeste has learned from interviewing other patients that the better shape she is in, the better her body will respond to the surgery and therapy.Celeste hopes to have full recovery of her bladder and bowel function, eliminate nerve pain and spasticity and regain the ability to stand and walk again. She plans to recover her independence and ability to participate in the life she loves. Celeste looks forward to getting back onto job sites and contributing to their business in a more hands-on way again. Celeste and her team also hope to help others who are trying to figure out how they can pay for treatment at Verita Neuro themselves by sharing the marketing and fundraising package the On My Feet and Beyond team has developed for Celeste. You can help by sending tax deductible donations to Celeste’s campaign at Help Hope Live. If you are in the Phoenix area, make time to attend fundraising events the On My Feet and Beyond team has planned locally. If you can’t physically attend, send the team raffle and silent auction contributions. These kinds of donations are also tax deductible for you or your business.Help Celeste reclaim the life she loves and get back to her good work improving community. Keep current with Celeste’s healing journey by following On My Feet and Beyond on social media for daily updates.Family and friends of Celeste Glover are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. We are happy to announce that we have partnered with Help Hope Live, ensuring all future contributions will be tax deductible thanks to their 501c3 status. We have already raised $9610. Heartfelt gratitude to all who have already donated. Meanwhile, I am continuing to work hard every day at getting stronger for the surgery. I've been practicing standing and walking a lot. We have two events planned, Axe throwing October 18 and a party at the Roadrunner November 17. Check out the flyers in Photo Gallery for details. https://www.facebook.com/share/osLvBDVvJZ5ksWK7/
