Mobility equipment and transportation system for Anthony Ambrosino

Hello there! My name is Anthony Ambrosino and I am raising money through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness.I have chosen this particular fundraiser because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.I am living with MS, a neurodegenerative disease which interferes with my brain’s ability to control my body.I was first diagnosed in 2016.The particular type that I have is called Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS). Only about 10% of people diagnosed with MS have my specific type.By the nature of this disease, my symptoms get worse over time. There can be periods of short-term (temporary) minor improvements. But declining neurologic progression is constant. And there is no recovery (remission).Prior to my diagnosis I led a very active life.I thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors.I was an active skier and backcountry extreme skier in my twenties. In my thirties I was working as an avalanche forecaster in Alaska and guided helicopter ski tours.I was in a volunteer avalanche awareness group. I visited schools to talk about this subject and provided free classes out in the community during the winter seasons of 2002 – 2004.I also had the opportunity to teach at snowmobile conventions and safety fairs.Related to this, I gathered avalanche stability information while skijoring with a dog team, and posted the conditions to the publicAnother passion that I have is music. In fact, in high school I was voted best musician in a superlative award. That still makes me smile to this day.Years ago, I chose my passion to reach out to others.I had the honor to participate in benefit concerts for the Blue Gold foundation of Delaware and Amnesty international. In Maine I performed in a band for fundraising events from 2009-2012 with The United Way, Bangor area homeless shelters. We also played at a woman’s abuse awareness concert in ConnecticutThis summer I reunited with my old band to fundraise for the New England M.S chapterI wish to continue being active in this manner, specifically for Multiple Sclerosis. My current intentions are to start performing live stream fundraising shows from my house for local charities in Delaware and tri state region of the mid Atlantic.I used to host an open mic weekly at a restaurant that had all my equipment set up for frontline equipment used for entertainment at the restaurant.I only had to bring a guitar to play.I say this because I have severe limitations in carrying any kind of musical equipment to performIt is unfortunate that the restaurant closed in May of 2024.I feel as if I were to have mobility equipment, I would be able to participate in area live performances. This would include other performances to benefit the MS Society.I’d also like to be able to enjoy activities with my partner that would alow relaxing rather than anxiety for my well-being.This would include recreational walks with our dogs. I also enjoy bird viewingCurrently I utilize a rollater to walk. I can manage flat smooth surfaces. However, any kind of an incline, or rocky surface, creates a safety risk for meI continue to maintain my optimism, which includes being vigilant with my physical therapyPlease consider supporting my vision. With many thanks!
