Family and friends of Tyler Pionke are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. Tyler has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses. On December 19, 2020, I lost my mom. Three months later, as I was still trying to process that grief, I was in a horrific motorcycle accident with my best friend from childhood. The accident left me in a coma, followed by two agonizing months in the ICU, When I woke up from the coma I couldn’t move. I had lost all control of my body. That’s when I realized something was terribly wrong and I was now a quadriplegic. All of this happened within eight months of my honorable discharge from the Army, where I had served with pride. Now, I’m left trying to understand how to rebuild my life. I’m a father to three small children, and married to the love of my life. But every day, I’m haunted by how quickly everything changed, and how helpless I feel in the face of it all. I’m starting this fundraiser to help with medical expenses.
