HELP GINGER FIGHT AGAINST ALS

To know Ginger is to love Ginger and wow do we love her. She has such a kind soul and the most giving spirit, always trying to help those in need around her. She has worked passionately as a pharmacist for over 20 years giving back to her community. Knowing Ginger, you quickly see how evident her love for her children (34, 28, 22, and 13 years old) and 3 grandchildren are (11, 4, and 5 months old); they are her absolute world. She has always been the ultimate ballpark mom and now as “GiGi” makes frequent trips to Houston to spend time with her sweet grandchildren. In April of 2024 Ginger was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, at the age of 54. This is a progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. As the disease progresses, patients lose the ability to walk, talk, swallow, and eventually breathe resulting in complete paralysis. Although we believe in a God capable of performing miracles and we cover Ginger in the Word of God and prayer daily there is no current cure for ALS. Unfortunately, Ginger’s function is rapidly declining faster than we had hoped. After just 5 short months of her diagnosis, she is dependent on a motorized wheelchair and requires the assistance of caregivers to help with showers, transfers, getting dressed, eating, and the day-to-day tasks we all so preciously take advantage of being capable of performing. Many of you have asked, “How can I help?” therefore with her permission we thought it would be beneficial to start this fundraising campaign with Help Hope Live. Ginger is not one to ask for anything, especially when it comes to finances. If you knew the private conversations, we have had with her you’d understand how difficult it is for her to allow us to do this for her. The harsh reality is it can cost between $150,000 and $200,000 a year to take care of someone with ALS. Ginger’s caregivers’ alone cost ~36,000 a year. Our hope and ultimate goals are to raise enough money to cover the ongoing cost of caregivers, expensive out-of-pocket medical expenses, required medical equipment and home modifications needed to make Gingers home handicap accessible so she can remain living at home.If you are one who so graciously wants to give to help Ginger the best way to do so is to donate here at Help Hope Live. We ask that you share Ginger’s story as much as possible and cover her in your prayers. If you would like to assist with additional fundraisers in Ginger’s Honor please contact her daughter, Callie LaBeff (318) 381-5165. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kindness.
