Rusty was recently diagnosed with Amyloidosis. This is a progressive disease primarily affecting his heart. Due to the rapid progression and damage caused by the disease, Rusty now requires a heart transplant. Family and friends of Rusty Moore are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a heart transplant. We have chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses. In addition, Help Hope Live manages all the funds raised and makes payments directly on behalf of Rusty. Rusty will have a lengthy hospital stay both pre and post transplant, and will be required to remain in Birmingham for several weeks after discharge from the hospital. Our primary goal is to assist in covering expenses during this time so that his wife, Pam, can remain by his side and focused on his care. Thank you for considering donation to our fund. We ask that you please continue to pray for both Rusty and Pam as they prepare for surgery and the days ahead. Ephesians 3:20.
Thank you so much to everyone for all the prayers, messages, and donations!! We are beyond blessed and forever grateful for each and every one of you. Dad received his heart transplant on Christmas day. He is doing well so far with his recovery, but has a long road ahead. He is awake, breathing on his own, and even walked around the unit with PT today. Please keep praying for a quick and successful recovery with no infections or complications. All praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His mercy and provision!
Update 12/11: unfortunately the surgery was cancelled. We will continue to wait for the perfect heart. Thank you for all your prayers! Please keep them coming. We are trusting God to provide at just the right time.
Update: We received the call that there is a donor match for Dad. He is expected to go into surgery to receive his heart transplant later this evening. Please be in prayer for a successful surgery with no complications and quick recovery. Please be in prayer for the donor's family as well. We are so incredibly grateful for this gift.
Just wanted to share an update. Dad was admitted to the heart transplant ICU a few weeks ago. He has met all the criteria for heart transplant and he is now officially on the transplant list. If you would like to assist with covering expenses during this indefinite hospital stay, you may do so here or contact me for further info. Most importantly, please continue to cover my parents, Rusty and Pam Moore, in prayer in the coming weeks. We have experienced many answered prayers in the last week of tests and, we know God's plan is already at work.
