My name is Chris Considine and this is our story. Earlier this year Eric suffered a stroke along with another medical condition called Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES). PRES is a severe swelling of the brain which causes a brain injury that in many cases is reversible. Eric is recovering and improving each month but the recovery will take time.Time stopped when Eric’s injury took place. Eric spent 10 days in the ICU where he had complete vision loss, was aphasiac ( a condition in which he could not express himself with the correct words when communicating). Eric had a severe memory loss and had to relearn many things most of us take for granted and seem simple, which included walking on his own. Eric’s vision returned slowly, and over the next month the aphasia improved to where it is almost non-existent. Eric started in-patient rehabilitation therapy that was able to help him improve to a point where he could be released to begin aggressive rehabilitation therapy. I now drive him to outpatient rehabilitation 3 times a week for 3 hour sessions that involve occupational therapy, speech/memory therapy and physical therapy. Homecare was not an option, I am now Eric’s full time caregiver. This is an extreme labor of love since as caregiver you take care of all the needs of the patient in trust. I work 24 hours a day 7 days a week to give Eric what he needs to help him recover. He is recovering and slowly getting better but we still have a ways to go to get his mobility, memory and problem solving skills to a level where he can be self-sufficient and begin to work and contribute to his own needs. Thankfully for Eric and I we have been accepted by Help Hope Live. Through their guidance we are hoping to raise our goal of $40,000 to help cover the medical expenses this emergency has created. We welcome you to help organize a fundraiser, donate to Eric’s campaign if you are able and please share this fundraising page with your community. Any help is appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and know we are hopeful for a strong recovery for Eric. Brain injuries have no time table so we live each day and work hard. All contributions to Help Hope live in honor or Eric could be a catalyst to better things for Eric. Please contact us with any ideas you may have for fundraising opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who donated to Ed Cooning IV in his fundraising run to help Eric and Help Hope Live. We are so thankful for Ed and all of you. Eric is improving everyday but still needs help from you and many others. Traumatic injuries require many levels of care and Eric is starting therapy to help with the many questions and frustrations he is feeling. Giving Tuesday is coming up soon on December 3rd. Please consider helping our hope continue to grow.
We have hit the goal set by Ed Cooning IV for the Monumental Marathon of $1300. Thank you everyone who has donated to Help Hope Live and Eric. If you would still like to donate you still can on the fundraising link or on the campaign link.
Ed Cooning IV is running in the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 9 to help raise funds for Help Hope Live in support of Eric Considine. He is asking for donations of $50 per mile. If you would like to donate please contact Ed Cooning IV or Chris Considine
