Help Eric Considine with Financial and Medical Costs

My name is Chris Considine and this is our story. Earlier this year Eric suffered a stroke along with another medical condition called Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES). PRES is a severe swelling of the brain which causes a brain injury that in many cases is reversible. Eric is recovering and improving each month but the recovery will take time.Time stopped when Eric’s injury took place. Eric spent 10 days in the ICU where he had complete vision loss, was aphasiac ( a condition in which he could not express himself with the correct words when communicating). Eric had a severe memory loss and had to relearn many things most of us take for granted and seem simple, which included walking on his own. Eric’s vision returned slowly, and over the next month the aphasia improved to where it is almost non-existent. Eric started in-patient rehabilitation therapy that was able to help him improve to a point where he could be released to begin aggressive rehabilitation therapy. I now drive him to outpatient rehabilitation 3 times a week for 3 hour sessions that involve occupational therapy, speech/memory therapy and physical therapy. Homecare was not an option, I am now Eric’s full time caregiver. This is an extreme labor of love since as caregiver you take care of all the needs of the patient in trust. I work 24 hours a day 7 days a week to give Eric what he needs to help him recover. He is recovering and slowly getting better but we still have a ways to go to get his mobility, memory and problem solving skills to a level where he can be self-sufficient and begin to work and contribute to his own needs. Thankfully for Eric and I we have been accepted by Help Hope Live. Through their guidance we are hoping to raise our goal of $40,000 to help cover the medical expenses this emergency has created. We welcome you to help organize a fundraiser, donate to Eric’s campaign if you are able and please share this fundraising page with your community. Any help is appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and know we are hopeful for a strong recovery for Eric. Brain injuries have no time table so we live each day and work hard.  All contributions to Help Hope live in honor or Eric could be a catalyst to better things for Eric. Please contact us with any ideas you may have for fundraising opportunities.

Hello Everyone.

Eric and I would first like to thank everyone who has donated to Help Hope Live. You have helped us more than you will ever know. Eric is continuing to improve and we have been able to start getting our lives moving in a positive direction. I have been able to start working again as Eric is improved to the point he can be alone for long periods. I am so proud of him as he continues to work hard to become more independent. We still have much to do and continue to need some assistance to help cover costs and debts that this journey has incurred. Thank you so much for the help you have given us. You have all brought Eric and I hope for our future. We look forward to being able to live our lives to the fullest.

As we move into February Eric continues to improve and progress. Eric is going to be discharged from rehab on Feb 7th. This is both encouraging and sad as we will miss the people at Alexian Brothers who have helped Eric and I so much. We have been going to rehab for 8 months and the Rehabilitation specialists have been an incredible support for Eric and I. We Love them very much. With this change comes a lot of uncertainty as we move on to the next phase of recovery and moving toward finding employment. We thank everyone for their help and support and owe you all so much. Eric and I still need your help with fundraisers, fundraising ideas, donations and awareness. We love you all.
