Family and friends of John Hope are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. John has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses. Plus, we like the name!A little about John: John was diagnosed in 2012 with cardiomyopathy, and is currently in late stage heart failure and awaiting a heart transplant in an Indianapolis hospital.John is married to Maria, and is the father of one adult son (John W.), and three younger boys (Trenton, Grayson, and Dalton) still at home, and a stepson, Bryson. John loves his family, loves God, and loves golf ⛳️Do to his heart failure, John has gradually, then suddenly lost his stamina. He works to keep his spirits up, but it’s been a struggle as he simply cannot do the things he used to do, like carpentry, (and more golf!)John was forced into early retirement due to his heart failure. He hopes that a new heart will allow him to get back to his family and the things he loves to do, and perhaps return to work. The medical expenses associated with heart transplant are extremely high. After transplant, John will need immunosuppressive drugs for the rest of his life, which are very expensive, even with insurance. Please donate to Help Hope Live in John’s honor today, and ask your friends and family to give, too! Every gift big or small helps! We plan to hold some fundraisers in John’s honor, too, so if you can help or have ideas, please contact John’s sister, Karen, at [email protected] us get John back home!Karen Hope, John’s sister
The spaghetti dinner was a great success! Thank you to all who donated in John's honor. The best news is that John will be able to come home soon! The new heart is working well. God bless his Donor and the transplant team!

John has now reached 84 days in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant. One of the nurses brought a small Christmas tree? for his room, and his wife, Maria, brought a festive blanket and Christmas pillow. Everyone is trying to make Christmas in a hospital as happy as possible. We have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser scheduled for January 30 at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. John (and all of us) grew up at St Charles, and he has many friends past and present at St Charles. The dinner is being hosted by the Knights of Columbus. Many thanks to them!Karen
Day 70, and John is still waiting. He is trying to walk (with help) every day. He gets about a mile in, so he is trying to keep strength up, and spirits as well.Thank you for all your prayers and supportKaren Hope
John has spent 58 days in the hospital and is still waiting to receive a heart. He's had a couple scares, but has recovered and is stabilized once again. Keep up the prayers!
