We are writing to you today on behalf of our wife and mother, Kass McGonagle. This September, Kass suffered a catastrophic illness due to a stroke. She is now paralyzed on her left side and is currently in Magee Rehabilitation Hospital working very hard learning how to work with her new condition. She is unable to walk and do many of the things we each take for granted. There are a lot of unknowns with some of Kass’s conditions, but we do know that she has an uphill battle ahead of her. Kass continues to remain strong and determined to make as much progress as possible.
Many of you know that for the past two years Kass has been taking care of her son Sean, who was paralyzed as the result of a gunshot to his spinal cord. She has been doing this while continuing to work full time for Gemini bakery (where she has worked for over 17 years). She has always been a loving wife to Dennis and a wonderful Mother, grandmother and good friend to many. Now it is Kass who needs all of our help.
Even with insurance, our family is facing many expenses that she will have that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, medications, rehabilitation therapy, and a caregiver to help with her daily needs. This puts us up against a challenge that we cannot meet alone and desperately need your assistance.
To help with the cost of uninsured medical expenses and recovery-based therapies, a fundraising campaign in honor of Kass has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained catastrophic injuries and most recently have expanded their mission to cover catastrophic illness. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Catastrophic Illness Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for illness-related expenses only.
On behalf of all of our family, we thank you in advance for support, kindness and generosity.

My son Sean also has a HelpHOPELive campaign page that accepts donations: http://bit.ly/hopeforsean

Our Baby Sister, Kass, is working so hard to overcome her stroke. She has been so strong throughout the last 21/2 years caring for Sean and working a full-time job now it is time for all of us to support her and her Son through yet another challenge which has been given to this family.
As her Sister I ask you to continue with you love, support and generosity towards the Fmily and help by giving as much as you can to Sean & Kathleen to help with the financial needs.
Thank you and try to image, if you possibly can, dealing with their situation and still having a smile on your face everyday and the determination to continue working hard to get back as much as you can. Love you Kass, Dennis, Jennifer, Kelly, Sarah & Sean
