Help Hope Live for Kylee Dougherty

Kylee is a 41-year-old wife and mother. On November 9th, 2020, when she was just 37 years old, Kylee had an unknown illness in her brain: A Grade 5 Brain Aneurysm, that ruptured causing a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Her family quickly learned that this life-threatening and life altering illness was the worst and highest level of a brain aneurysm. Miraculously, Kylee survived the rupture and has continued to defy the medical odds for survival and life expectancy. Additional recovery for Kylee will be multiple years long of a journey with out-of-pocket medical expenses.Before her aneurysm, Kylee lived a simple life to the fullest. She cared for her rambunctious son Luke, who was 2 & ½, at the time, and her first love & husband of almost 20 years, Rick. After earning a degree in fashion marketing, Kylee pursued her love for fashion, and worked 10 years, with her dream company: American Eagle. She always led those around her with a calm and kind spirit.Since her aneurysm, Kylee struggles to live her life to the fullest. Her husband and sister, as well as a small team of nurses, have been caring for Kylee, at home, since June 2021. Kylee lives each day for the sweet moments and sounds of her, now 6-year-old son. She also loves to get video phone calls from her family, in Florida. But Kylee’s life has been confined to living in just a small area of her home and back porch.Kylee greatest fundraising need is for a mobility vehicle to help improve her quality of life. This vehicle will be tailored to the needs of her wheelchair and will allow her to experience life outside the walls of her home, which will include things like: Going to school functions to see her son; Going to watch her son at martial arts; Worshiping at church; Going to her in-laws home in Pennsylvania for dinner or a holiday; Traveling to see her family in Florida; Traveling to a doctor’s appointment without having to schedule ambulance transportation by flatbed stretcher; Attending an in-patient rehab center for physical therapy, because in home therapy is limited to a few appointments per year.Kylee’s second greatest fundraising need would be to build a small custom bathroom & medical supply storage space, off the dining room, which has been turned into her care room. The storage space would allow Kylee’s nursing team access to all medical supplies, right next to where they care for Kylee, rather than having to be stored in the basement. The bathroom would allow Kylee to have a wheelchair that could roll directly into a shower, which not only would make cleaning her easier for her care givers, but it would allow Kylee to regain a small piece of dignity, since the bathroom area would be enclosed and private. The shower would also give her the small pleasure of feeling warm running water touch her skin. Since Kylee’s illness, she has only experienced sponge baths in bed. The unofficial estimated cost for this project is between $50,000-$100,000Kylee & her family know that if these needs are met, not only will she be able to enjoy the small things in life, that many of us take for granted each day, but that her son will be able to have his mom more “present” in his life which improves his quality of life as well.
