Nicole Needs New Wheels - let’s help her get them !

Nicole currently lives in Epping, NH and loves being part of her community in Epping. She has lived in NH since attending Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH and receiving her Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She fell in love with NH and just never left. Most of the time you’ll find Nicole with her fiancé Jake. Nicole enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets. You’ll commonly see Nicole outside playing with her dogs, gardening, or during the nice weather out riding an adapted Can Am Spyder with Jake, her friends, and the US Spyder Ryders Merrimack Valley NH Chapter. Nicole was in a horrific car accident driving to work right after Thanksgiving and suffered a T11/12 Spinal Cord Injury that resulted in permanent paraplegia from the waist down. Nicole is and will be a life long wheelchair user due to her accident. Nicole is fully dependent on her wheelchair being unable to walk at all. Nicole as a result of her injury suffers from osteoarthritis in her back, shoulders, hands, and hips. Her injury has resulted in over 20+ surgical procedures. Currently Nicole is in need of an ultralight manual rigid wheelchair that her medical insurance will not pay for due to it being outside her allowable coverage and is hoping that by raising funds through Help Hope Live that this need can be fulfilled. Nicole’s medical needs grow yearly and unfortunately due to 3 surgeries and resulting costs in 2024 she is unable to fund the wheelchair herself.

The ability to afford and be fit for the right ultralight manual rigid wheelchair will allow Nicole to continue to live an active lifestyle with her family and friends. Without a proper ultralight daily wheelchair Nicole runs the risk of pressure sores plus further injuring her shoulders, back, neck, and hands. For an every day wheelchair user it is imperative that they not only have the proper fitting equipment but also the lightest equipment available to prevent further injuring themselves.

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support - I am so grateful. After the purchase and disbursements are finalized for my carbon fiber/titanium wheelchair, upgraded cushions, and chair accessories - we have some funds left that will be going towards the purchase of a Mountain Trike Hiking Wheelchair as we raise the money and hopefully receive grants. We only have this chance to possible make this a reality because of so many of you generously donating including so many of our close family and friends. We have also applied for two grants one through the Victorias Victory Foundation and one through the Challenged Athletes Foundation in hopes to get us closer to needed $13,300.00 to purchase. - I really am hoping we can get it so I can truly enjoy the outdoors in NH with all of you and my dogs on the trails :)

I just wanted to post an update for everyone - we have taken delivery of my Hands on Concepts Wheelchair made of both Titanium/Carbon Fiber, I also took delivery of my new EASE and Jay 3 Gel seat cushions and a new rigid back cushion that will help heal the pressure sore I’m currently dealing with and hopefully prevent more in the future. I am so appreciative of everyone’s donations and help to make this happen for me. It wouldn’t have happened without all your support. It is already making such a difference in my daily life and mobility. I uploaded some photos for everyone to see here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

After the final disbursements are sent out for the chair, cushions, and accessories we will have some funds left in this account approx $3400.00 that we plan to use towards a Mountain Trike hopefully with the help of Victorias Victory Foundation and Challenged Athletes Foundation Grant. Once we get answers from them we will disclose how much those grants are for and set a new true fundraising goal.

Again without all of you we couldn’t even dream of having the chair I’m currently in and loving or even a chance at a piece of equipment that would allow me to enjoy the outdoors with my family, friends, and dogs.
