My name is Rosemary and I am 62 years old. I unfortunately was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis on March 31, 2023. I have been married to my kind, loving husband for 39 years. Together we raised a beautiful daughter Jessica who is so incredibly kind hearted and is always there for everyone, especially me through this diagnosis. We also have a sweet pup named Stanley and a cat named Maude. I am originally from Massachusetts and we moved to South Carolina in 2015 due to my husband having CMT which affects his muscles in his arms and legs. The warmer weather in the south has helped him tremendously which has made it possible for him to be there for me- especially since my diagnosis and all of the hurdles that we have had to face since. I love to read, camp, crochet, and watch Hallmark Christmas movies. But above all- my favorite thing to do is to be with my family and friends and I’m so incredibly blessed to have the loving relationship I have with all of them.
I struggle the most with everyday tasks and accepting the fact that I can’t help with simple things like I used to. I just want to be able to have a normal life again and enjoy walks on the beach or on the Riverwalk. I would absolutely love to go back and help work the Fall Festival weekends on the farm like I used to. This fundraising is to help with the amount for the transplant surgery that insurance does not cover and relocation fees (as we have to relocate for up to 6 months to be within the distance requirements of the hospital). I appreciate everyone who is able to help as I navigate through this process. I know that it takes a village and I’m so blessed to have the one I have. I am fighting as hard as I can for my family who I love dearly.
Please donate to Help Hope Live in Rosemary’s honor today, and ask your friends and family to give too! We are also looking to plan some fundraisers in Rosemary’s honor, so if you can help with that, please contact family friend Christina at [email protected]. Thank you for your generous support!
Update I went to Duke for my 5 day evaluation February 25th through the 28th. I got the call today to ask me to relocate in the next 3-4 weeks to continue my rehab at the Duke facility. The goal is to lose the last of the weight and be able to complete all the tasks that are required to be able to move to the next step which is hopefully being added to the transplant list. We need to fight hard to reach our goal. Thank you to everyone who has donated and followed our journey. We wouldn’t be this far along without you.
Another update!I have been working hard at rehab, trying to keep my body moving and strengthen my muscles so I’m strong enough for surgery. I am so close to my weight loss goal, and I start my 5 day evaluation with Duke this Monday, 2/24. This will require a lot of testing to make sure all my other organs are working at 100% and healthy enough to undergo the procedure. My family and I are so thankful for everyone’s generous donations. You have no idea how much your support means, and the relief we have knowing the financial burden has lessened. Please keep sending your prayers and positive thoughts, if this evaluation goes well, hopefully we will be relocating very soon to start the next step in my journey to healthy lungs! I will update everyone as soon as I know more. Love, Rosemary
Just thought I'd drop in and say hello and a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. I have started Rehab here in Conway, South Carolina. I try to do at least an hour a day five days a week until my next appointment at Duke. It’s hard but day by day I hope to get stronger. My next follow up appointment is January 29 at Duke so I should definitely know more by then and we'll be able to give another update. I wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and contributions- it means more to me than you'll ever know. Please keep us in your prayers as we keep navigating through this time. ?, Rosemary

Oh Rosemary, I am hoping and praying that God will heal you and that this transplant will be a success. I remember the day we rode our scooters on the farm and you won the race. I AM CONFIDENT THAT YOU ARE GOING TO WIN THIS RACE TOO MY FRIEND!
My favorite thing to do is watch Hallmark Christmas movies, but I am sure that you are laughing because you know I watch them all year long, not just at Christmas.
Remember that I love you and David and I am always thinking and praying for you. xoxoxoxo
