Dan is a 61-year old family man. He worked full-time as a truck driver until he had respiratory failure in November 2019. He worked continuously to still enjoy life by doing what he could around the house and with family. In July 2024, his oxygen needs increased and left him not able to do much at all. He was placed on the transplant list in September of 2024 and received a bi-lateral lung transplant on December 14, 2024.
Dan enjoys water sports like fishing, wake surfing, taking the dogs for walks and visiting new places. He finds joy in tinkering with cars and working with his hands. He can often be found at a family member’s home playing board and card games. Dan is kind and gentle. He wants to take care of others rather than having others take care of him. After his respiratory failure, Dan is restricted in the places that he can go and the things that he can do. He misses out on things he enjoys because we can not carry enough tanks to enjoy an entire show or event.
Dan is fundraising for the cost of relocation during his recovery from lung transplant surgery. He will need to live near the hospital for at least three months after surgery. He will also need to pay his co-insurance for the surgery, anti-rejection and immunosuppressant medications and post care. Dan’s team estimates this will cost will be about $10,000. This amount could double or triple if he experiences any setbacks or complications.
Dan hopes that his lung transplant will allow him to get back to his normal life. He wants more than anything to do everything his family does and not have to sit back and watch. He looks forward to helping others, possibly finding another profession, volunteering at the local food pantry, helping out at church and going on vacation without oxygen tanks.
Please donate to Help Hope Live in Dan’s honor today, and ask your friends and family to give, too?
Thank you for your generous support!
