Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Supporters,
Our family is reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for my brother, Christopher Douglas Moore, as he embarks on a challenging journey toward healing after a tragic accident. On November 23, 2024, Chris suffered a devastating fall that resulted in a broken neck and back, leaving him with a complete spinal cord injury at the C4 level. He was immediately airlifted to Reno for emergency surgery and now faces a future with paralysis, unable to feel his upper or lower body.
Chris is a fighter, and we believe in his strength and resilience. However, the road to recovery is long and uncertain. He needs intensive rehabilitation, specialized nursing support, and care that can assist in integrating him back into society.
Your support can make a profound difference, whether through a tax-deductible donation or simply sharing this message. Every contribution helps us get Chris closer to the care and resources he needs. We will keep you updated on Chris’s progress, and we thank you for joining our community of hope.
With deepest gratitude,
Sheila Moore Caldwell
Greetings, friends, family, and those we call family. It has been a while since our last update, and the situation regarding Chris's recovery has become more serious and complicated. Recovering from a C4 spinal cord injury is a lengthy process that requires extensive rehabilitation and therapy. Each individual's journey is unique, but my brother Chris has not yet begun his rehabilitation or adjusted to life at his new skilled residence. Since his initial discharge, he has been readmitted to the ICU multiple times and has only had a few days to enjoy his new surroundings and visit with his dog, Maya. Today he resides in a highly skilled facility, a level between his residence and critical care every week. During Chris's first admission to the ICU in Reno back in November, a pressure injury began to develop. He was discharged in January to his new place, but just two days later, he returned to critical care with Stage 4 Pressure Injury that was infected and caused sepsis. He had a close brush with death, and a night made from terror dreams ensued. After the sun rose, the pain began to subside in time for Chris to survive the eight hours of unimaginable agony. Unfortunately, he is now facing a bone infection and an open wound the size of a melon, and continues to receive highly skilled medical care around the clock. Despite facing numerous challenges, Chris remains resilient, thanks to the support of his fantastic circle of loved ones. However, the increasing medical and airfare expenses present a significant burden as we work through the healthcare system to help Chris recover and regain his ability to live life to the fullest. If you or someone you know has a foundation or Fiscal Sponsor, please share this link. https://helphopelive.org/campaign/25032/ Help Hope Live is a reputable 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax-deductible. We appreciate your help in spreading the word. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Much love and many thanks, Sheila Moore Caldwell

Hi Chris,
Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts. I can\'t imagine what you are going through. I hope you have some recovery and know that everyone in Incline misses you. You may not remember me but you gave me a tour when I was in the CBC kitchen. Also, I would see you at the Incline Ski Loft Bar occasionally.
