Dear friends and family,
Brian was diagnosed with kidney failure in August 2011. Unaware that he had been in kidney failure for several years he became very ill. As a matter of life or death Brian was admitted into the emergency department. The specialist informed him that he only had about 4% function left and his only chance of survival was dialysis and a kidney transplant when available.
Before being diagnosed with kidney failure Brian was a fitter/welder who worked hard to provide for me and our 3 children; Brian Jr., Kelsey and Brina. He is unable to return back to work due to his condition and low energy level. He receives an Epogen shot every two weeks to help him with his low energy. Even though Brian is dealing with kidney failure he continues to serve others. He has a strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and is devoting his time to teaching kids and young adults the love of Christ. He also enjoys spending quality time with his family.
Brian has been on the donor list at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) since April 2012 & 2 people have offered kidneys. We will not be able to start testing to see if they are a match until funds are provided. Brian will need between $20,000 and $40,000 for his lifelong immunosuppressant medications and before the doctors can start the transplant. Also, the expense of traveling to and from the center and then relocation costs at the time of transplant will be high. This presents a challenge that we cannot meet alone.
To help offset his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Brian’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Brian’s life. Please consider making a contribution. Thanks for your support and God Bless!
