Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing to you on behalf of my daughter Lauren Meizo. Lauren has a rare muscular disease called Laing Distal Mystrophy and Cardiomyopathy — an extremely rare muscle disease that affects her muscles which includes her most important muscle – her heart. She was admitted to the hospital on March 6, 2013 and was told that her only real chance at a healthy life was to a have a heart transplant. Lauren was placed on the active heart transplant waiting list on March 13, 2013 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
Lauren is ready to get her life back. She was one year short of receiving her Bachelor’s Degree with hopes of becoming a veterinarian tech. Lauren has always been very active, always going to the gym, working, attending school and just being Lauren. She wants it back. When Lauren finally receives her “gift of life,” her family would like to know that Lauren will not be financially stressed so that she can enjoy her new life and move forward.

Even with insurance, Lauren will still have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life to ensure her continued health and that of her precious “gift of life.”
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Lauren’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.Lauren feels very blessed with loving and supportive family and friends who help in so many ways. Your prayers and contributions are truly treasured and will help us through this difficult time.
Thank you and God bless,
