In 2019 Michael was diagnosed with gallstone pancreatitis which has evolved into needing a 5-organ transplant (stomach, duodenum, liver, pancreas, and small intestines). As an avid hunter and outdoorsman who also enjoyed his job working outside, the past several years have been difficult as he has been in and out of the hospital, with numerous surgeries and procedures As a result, he is unable to work and help support his family.
In 2023 Mike, ended up at Cleveland Clinic to address the severity of his condition. He is currently listed for his multivisceral organ transplant. All 5 organs will come from the same donor and will all be transplanted at the same time. Mike, Amanda (wife) and Margaret (age 10) have been traveling back and forth frequently to Cleveland for appointments, tests, procedures and follow-ups. Each trip is at least a 4-hour drive one way. Currently, Mike has been at Cleveland Clinic since December 23, 2024, with Amanda at his side. Personal funds that had been set aside for transplant post-expenses have been used to accommodate this current set of expenses.
Mike is fundraising for the cost of relocating to Cleveland for 3-6 months after transplant, as he will need to stay nearby after his release from the hospital. Transplant requires extensive medications and close follow-up with his team in Cleveland and all money will go towards paying the out-of-pocket costs associated with his treatment and extended stay. Unexpected expenses related to Mike’s transplant process include air transport retainer, and medical equipment not covered by insurance have decimated family savings. Coupled with the loss of Mike’s income and reduction in Amanda’s income as she assists with Mike puts the family in a precarious financial situation.
Mike’s family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with his multivisceral 5-organ transplant (stomach, duodenum, liver, pancreas and small intestines). Mike has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

I used to work with Christy and be able to call her my friend. During that time I learned how important her family was to her, especially her brother. Christy takes care of everyone and is an amazing person, totally selfless. I know it's not a lot but I am happy to help this family in anyway including our on going prayers as well. We are praying daily for Mike and your family.

Amanda was a guiding light through my entire pregnancy. Even with an unexpected turn into having a c-section, she made sure you felt supported and cared for. We are sending so many prayers her way and we hope she feels as supported as she made us. Nate, baby Everly and I are truly grateful for her and wonderfully person she is. Hugs to you and your family.
