Hi, my name is Miya Clark. I am fighting for my independence, my life, and to avoid institutionalization. I need your help!
I have survived multiple brain injuries, each one compounding the devastating effects on my health and ability to function. My most recent injury, in March of 2025, has left me barely able to safely move, speak or care for myself. I am trapped in an unbearable situation—overwhelmed by noise, stress, and unsafe living conditions that are making my symptoms even worse. I need urgent medical care and a safe, quiet place to heal.
Here’s just a glimpse of what I’ve endured (in brain injuries alone):
– At just 5 years old, I was knocked off of a swing, stopped breathing, and was revived by my Mother —without receiving additional medical care (this was 1967).
– In 2014, My car hydroplaned on a puddle shortly after a flash flood and after flying into the air, I landed on my head, suffering a brain bleed that led to seizures, tremors, and severe depression.
– In 2018, another accident took place when two cars slammed into me, causing a concussion and a severe revival of previous injury symptoms. This pushed me to the brink—I wasn’t able to return to work and nearly took my life several times.
-In 2022, I suffered a horrific fall in a hotel bathroom and symptoms from previous injuries returned.
– And now, after my latest brain injury in March of 2025, I live in constant pain, unable to tolerate light or noise. My right face dropped, my speech is slurred, and my body is shutting down.
I survive on just $1,345 a month from Social Security. My current living situation is dangerous and unbearable—I need immediate assistance for housing, medical treatment, daily care, and a service dog. My doctors say that with the right environment and support, I could recover in 8 to 10 years. But without help, nobody thinks I’ll survive even a year.
I have one granddaughter that means the world to me. I want to maintain my independence, avoid being put in an institution, and spend as much time as possible contributing to her life.
I am desperately fundraising to afford:
– Safe, quiet housing without shared walls in a safe neighborhood
– A live-in aide to assist with daily needs like cooking, cleaning, organization and transportation
– Specialized treatment at the Amen Clinic to heal my brain and other related-disorders
– A service dog for crucial support, safety and intervention
– Basic living necessities and expenses to keep going
I have maxed out my credit cards and I’m just trying to survive. I have nowhere else to turn.
If you can donate, share, or offer any assistance—whether supplies, services, or connections to helpful resources—I would be forever grateful. Every bit of support brings me one step closer to healing and reclaiming my life. Please note… despite my many emotional challenges and brain injuries over the years, I worked for nearly 40 years before being forced to fully retire. I recognize the importance and value of self-reliance. But God created permanent disability, and in doing so, he must have known that some of his children would be incapable of self-reliance from a financial standpoint. Instead, we must be stepping stones for others to obtain higher versions of themselves, by helping others.
Thank you for reading this, and for any help you can give.
Best,
Miya
Just a note, I'm grateful to my team for assisting me in getting this campaign off the ground. I've authorized my daughter to peek at my phone contacts and reach out to potential donors. This is all new to me, but I've just learned that alternative ways of giving listed on this website (employer matching, legacy giving, etc.) go to a general fund for Help Hope Live, not to my campaign. To make arrangements for in-kind donations, employer matching or other methods of donating, please reach out to Marie Snow at #801.884.8826, and she'll put you in touch with the gal who handles that sort of thing. I wish everyone a Happy and safe holiday month! I rarely get out anymore but I'm determined to take Sophia to the creek at Heritage Park this week, where she can run circles around me while I soak in the ice cold water from the beautiful mountians. Enjoy!
June 23, 2025I'm really struggling to get this off the ground. I cannot manage the platforms for fundraising, and because I'm a recluse, I don't know anyone who can help. I don't 'do' social media, I can't figure it out, and it's a huge detriment in obtaining or setting up online fundraisers on various sites. I'm in dire need of housing, and housing legal assistance, a good worker's comp attorney, a legal malpractice attorney, and safety. I am not safe where I am housed. I've reached out to the police, the owners, and everyone I can think of, to no avail. At this point, my housing needs far surpass any injury or illness related needs, because without safe and stable housing, I can never recover. I'm having luck finding donations for online auctions, but no longer have the mental bandwidth or the social circles to get these auctions off the ground. Thank you for checking in!
