It is with great sadness we report that Rodney Alexander Hunter passed away on April 27, 2025. Family and friends have been working with Help Hope Live to raise money to help finance uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation
In loving memory of Rodney, Help Hope Live will continue to accept charitable donations to help defray uninsured costs that were incurred. Rodney had chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because the nonprofit organization provides both tax-deductibility to the full extent allowed by law and fiscal accountability to contributors. Donors can be sure that charitable contributions will be used only to pay or reimburse medically related and final expenses.

Help Rodney Fight for a Better Future: Your Support Can Make a Difference
Rodney is a 33-year-old who has been battling severe health challenges for nearly 19 years. Diagnosed with Evans Syndrome at age 14, Rodney has courageously fought through a series of illnesses, Sclerosing Cholangitis and Type 1 Diabetes.
Today, he faces his toughest fight yet: Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, which has now advanced to the end stages, and he is in urgent need of a liver transplant.
For nearly two decades, Rodney has lived with relentless medical setbacks, but he has never let his conditions define him. An avid weightlifter, Rodney maintains an active lifestyle and a strict, healthy diet to help manage his health. His dedication to staying strong is matched only by his unwavering optimism. Whether he’s cracking jokes to lift others’ spirits or passionately cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodney is known for his infectious positivity and larger-than-life personality.
But now, Rodney is facing a new challenge: the reality of needing a liver transplant. The surgery is critical for his survival and for giving him a chance to live a normal life. However, the road ahead is going to be tough. Rodney will need to take several months off work to recover from the transplant. Unfortunately, he is currently too sick to work, which means he is without his regular income. To make matters more difficult, Rodney will also need a full-time caregiver during his recovery, who will also need to miss work to care for him.
This is where we need your help.
What Your Donations Will Go Toward:
• Transplant Surgery & Medications: Covering the deductible and medical expenses related to the transplant.
• Home Health Care: The cost of a caregiver to assist Rodney during his recovery.
• Everyday Living Expenses: Helping Rodney and his caregiver maintain stability during this difficult time while they are unable to work.
Rodney has faced many struggles over the years, from extreme fluid retention that causes painful swelling to the constant need for strict meal plans and doctor visits. He can’t go out freely or even work the way he’d like to because his health always comes first. This liver transplant offers him a chance for a future free of constant hospital stays, swelling, and the daily battles that wear down even the strongest. It’s a chance for Rodney to regain his energy, return to work, and, most importantly, enjoy life again.
We believe in Rodney’s strength, and we know with the help of his community, he can rise above this hurdle. Your generous donations will give him the chance he deserves to live a fuller, healthier life—without being defined by his medical conditions.
Please consider contributing today. No donation is too small, and every bit will make a difference. Together, we can give Rodney the gift of hope, health, and a brighter future.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support.

He is still in ICU on a ventilator and can not move his body at all. He was able to squeeze my hand so that is a plus. No idea what has caused this. He is the only person that Mayo knows of that has had this happen. He will be watch closely. He had a spinal tap today to seek answers. He is still fighting extremely hard to beat this. Much needed prayers for Rod please to heal completely so he can get his transplant and start a new life. Looks like it will be months for recovery and our income has been cut drastically. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rodney was scheduled for a new liver and kidney yesterday morning, unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to an infection in his intestines and colon. Since then he has had a central line put in and stated dialysis. He also has fluid in his lungs and around d his lugs and may need a drain put into his chest to drain the fluid. This has been really hard on him and some disappointment too. He just wants to feel good again. So with all this going on he has been removed from the transplant list temporarily. Once he gets over this set back he will be placed back on the list.
I’ve been recently updated to have a kidney and liver transplant if anyone is willing to support my cause because I’ll be out of work for several months anything will help thank you god bless
