She Deserves the Help She Gives!!!

Aly Corvin is a dancer, advocate, and Ms. Wheelchair California 2025. She’s on a mission to spread awareness, accessibility, and adventure across California—but first, she needs your help.

Aly lives with rare genetic conditions that impact her mobility, heart, and nervous system. After years of misdiagnosis, she finally got answers—but not before her health had severely declined. In 2024, she returned to dance… and then, a traumatic brain injury changed everything.

Hi Friends!! I just posted an update on my social media story that I have decided to start posting my fundraiser again to help us get a new accessible vehicle since ours is really struggling and no longer fits my access needs. I did post an update a while back about this on here, but it’s becoming more and more apparent that our van is unsafe as the brakes and drive shaft and ramp continue to have issues. I still feel really uncomfortable asking for help in this way because I would much rather raise money for other nonprofits and causes but I am practicing remembering that it’s okay to ask for help and if people have opinions of me because of it, that is not something I should hold my worth to. 🥹

For anyone who is reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s nice to feel like I’m allowed to be human and not have it all together yet.

Hello hello!! It’s update time!I GOT MY NEW WHEELCHAIR!!!After several assessments of what I needed to have a safe comfortable ride, I landed on with Hands on Concepts and my new wheelchair was born! I couldn’t have hit this milestone without all of you and I am so so grateful.Moving forward, with the difficulty I have loading and unloading in our vehicle, Erik and I have decided to explore other options. Getting financial assistance for an accessible vehicle thru grants or programs isn’t an option for me because I don’t fall under any of the required categories, so finding a way to purchase one on our own is our only option. Right now we have approximately $20,000 in this fundraiser left (thank you H.O.C. for providing a more affordable wheelchair and Rehasense for providing me with my power assist at no charge) so we would need approximately $40,000 more to get a van that completely fits our needs and lifestyle. I feel selfish posting this update and asking you all for help, but if my story and social media resonate with you, it would mean the world to me if you felt inclined to help out. We had big plans this year and can’t wait to travel and help get wheelchairs to those in need while also raising money for several nonprofits, but I often leave myself for last because I find it very difficult to ask for help, especially when it comes to any kind of financial assistance. Hopefully one day this silly little social media thing will pay for my bills and my access needs but that’s a ways away I fear. I love you all so much and I’m so so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for helping keep me afloat! —Aly Corvin
