Make It Happen for Madi Challenge… Holding on for Dear Life

The “Make It Happen for Madi Challenge” is fundraising to help Madi continue medically necessary, high-level, life-sustaining, mental health care that is no longer being covered by insurance, despite the recommendations of her psychiatrist and therapists. To save her life, she was admitted to a residential treatment care facility that specializes in helping teens regain hope… We humbly need your help. To read her FULL STORY, click “See All” under “Updates” and find the first post dated March 19.

Family and friends of Madeline Wilcox are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Madeline’s family has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

It's been way too long for an update! But SHE DID IT!!!! It's been 6 months of ups and downs and all-arounds, but she came out of top! See her GRADUATION pics in the photo albums! She not only graduated the program, she also graduated High School six months early! She has been home since February 1st and so far is doing amazing. She will still face obstacles ahead, but I cannot express how thankful I am to everyone who helped her get to this point in her life. She now has the tools to combat the obstacles that surface. From the bottom of my heart... THANK YOU for giving our baby another chance at life! A chance to see just how amazing she is and how much this world needs her! She is meant for GREAT things and I cannot wait to see what they are. Another update later... but I wanted to quickly post about her success. Again... THANK YOU!!!

Pictures are posted below from our 5th visit to see Madi last weekend! It was wonderful, considering we weren’t sure if we were going to have to cancel because of the trauma she was experiencing not long before. But it was God’s will to bring us together again, especially before Nate goes back to school next week. She needed 2 off-campus service hours so we planned a day trip to volunteer at an animal sanctuary and we had THE BEST time! Madeline was super attached to our cat who passed away last November and was devastated when she died. So this trip to work with the cats was just what she needed! Nate too! It was so darn fun my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. We then took a tour and got to scratch the belly of a pot-bellied pig named “Napoleon!” Hahaha! We really packed a lot in a few days, including “mom’s hair salon” in the hotel (the boys loved us!). Madi has an aggressive goal to graduate both high school and her program by the end of October and that makes me so happy to hear her determination! Can it be done… of course! Will it be tough… yes. It’s not something that can be rushed, like studying for an exam. It’s a lot of internalization and just depends on how well she grasps, applies and hangs onto it all. She’s leaps and bounds from where she was so she thinks it will be easier from here on out. I hope so for her sake. I also hope she gives herself grace if God’s timeline doesn’t line up with her’s. She hopes to pass this next packet in the next couple weeks. When she does she gets a wristband with free-roam throughout the community, can apply to be on the leadership committee, will get “funds” to use to write checks for food and laundry items and then earns a 7-day home visit! It’s the beginning of transitioning back home… so while it seems exciting… it is… yet also a bit scary. And I know it’s because I still fear the past. We’ve been told that’s normal. I need the strength to trust and let go! In God’s hands. But for now, I will relish the memories of last weekend, in complete GRATITUDE for everyone who has contributed to help us get out to see her, to give her the things she needs and mostly to help us give her the best opportunity at a future filled with hope. Again… there are no words. Thank you! xoxo

I’m heartbroken to learn about Madi. I can’t imagine your worries and the pain you’re feeling, seeing your baby girl’s suffering. I pray that God comforts and and continues to give you all strength as your family is going through this journey with Madi. I pray for Madi’s successful completion of her program so you can reunite soon. Thank you for sharing your story - Amy
