Family and friends of Ray Fulmer are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Ray has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
Ray's back in the hospital for a small procedure to insert another stint. The other one did work.
Ray had his second check up today. He had his Staples removed. His magnesium was still a little low but they did not have to do another infusion. He's leaking a lot of fluid still from the one drainage. So they had him do an x-ray to see if there is another leak or the stent is not working properly. He still having nausea and some pain.
First checkup post surgery went ok. He was low in magnesium so he had to get an infusion. No change to his meds. His next checkup is this Thursday.
Ray came home today! He is so excited to be home and out of the hospital after two long months. He still has a long road to adjusting to his new life. We are so thankful and blessed.
Ray's procedure was successful to repair the tear in his bile duct. They were able to put a stent.
Ray's journey begin on January 25th. He went to the ER with jaundice and stomach pain. After testing and being transferred to another local hospital he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease along with a 4 cm Mass on his right kidney. He was told he would have to have a liver transplant to survive. As the weeks went on his Bilrubin rose to 28 and his MELD score to 34. He completed all the testing to get on to the transplant list. Finally on March 6th he was approved to be placed on the list. His 49th birthday was March 9th. On this day he was getting more confused his score was rising and he was sleeping more. That evening he received the best birthday present ever....a call for a liver offer. On March 10th at 2:00 p.m. he went in for a 6-hour liver transplant and right kidney removal. Over the next few weeks Ray has improved dramatically his color is coming back and he's has lost 40 lb.Today March 24th he was hoping to be released to go home. Unfortunately there has been an issue with his bile duct leaking so they have to go in and put a stent so it can heal properly. He also received the results back of the mass on his kidney which was cancerous. At this time it hadn't spread to anywhere else.
