Lucas Timbro is a joyful 7-year-old boy living in Connecticut with his parents, Jordan and Justine, and two siblings, Carmelina and Liam. Before he was even born, Lucas faced a life-threatening challenge—a massive Grade 4 intraventricular hemorrhage (stroke) in utero. He underwent two life-saving brain surgeries within his first two weeks of life. Since then, Lucas has been on a miraculous and complex medical journey, now carrying over 23 diagnoses and receiving care from more than 10 medical specialists.
Despite his challenges, Lucas lights up every room he enters. He loves music, giggling with his brother and sister, and getting out into the world whenever he can. His personality is gentle, bright, and full of resilience. Everyone who meets Lucas is drawn to his strength, and the way his joy shines through the daily medical hurdles he faces.
Because of his disabilities, Lucas uses a wheelchair and requires daily therapy, routine specialist visits, and constant care. His parents currently lift his 70-pound frame into a car seat he no longer fits, and must hoist his heavy wheelchair into the trunk—an increasingly dangerous task that puts both Lucas and his caregivers at risk. This fall, Lucas is scheduled for bilateral hip reconstruction surgery on October 15, 2025, which will leave him non-weight-bearing for several months. Transporting him safely after surgery will be nearly impossible without a wheelchair-accessible van.
That’s why Lucas’s family is fundraising to help purchase a wheelchair-accessible van, in-home lifts, and other essential medical equipment needed before his upcoming double hip reconstruction surgery in October. These critical items are not covered by insurance, and while his parents are applying for grants and contributing as much as they can, they need support to meet this urgent need.
To help raise these vital funds, the family is hosting a special community banquet on August 30, 2025, in Middletown, CT. The evening will feature buffet dinner, live music, and a time to rally around Lucas’s story. Tickets are $50, and all proceeds go directly to his mobility needs.
An accessible van and in-home lifts will completely change what’s possible for Lucas. It will allow his family to safely transport him around the house, to therapy and appointments without risking injury. It will give him the freedom to participate more fully in family outings, church, and everyday life. Most importantly, it will ensure he has the mobility and safety required during recovery from his upcoming surgery.
Lucas’s family believes every step of his story has been written with purpose by God—and that even through hardship, hope is alive. They are prayerfully asking for help from friends, family, and compassionate supporters to meet this need before October.
Please donate to Help Hope Live in Lucas’s honor today, and share his story with others who may be able to help. Any size gift brings us one step closer to getting Lucas the vehicle and mobility devices he needs to live a safer, fuller life.
Thank you for believing in miracles with us.
