Help Emma's Home Become Wheelchair Accessible

Family and friends of Emma Nowell are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Emma has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

We are raising money to help with wheelchair-accessible home, educational, medical, and quality of life expenses. Emma has a genetic condition called SMA that affects nerve cells and causes muscle weakness. She is unable to walk and uses a motorized wheelchair. Her home is not set up to accommodate her needs, especially as she grows. Currently, her chair is not used inside, and she is carried by family and caregivers around the home. The bathroom and tub are too small and do not accommodate her assistive devices for bathing and toileting needs. Mom is homeschooling next year due to functional limitations, and there are expenses involved with that. Also, Emma wants an adapted trike so she can enjoy riding with her sister. Insurance will not cover this. Some of her medications are not covered by insurance either. Please consider helping Emma with these expenses so she can enjoy the best life possible. She is such a sweet, sassy, smart, creative, and beautiful little girl.

Emma had her back surgery for scoliosis September 9th 2025. Since then she has been dealing with an infection that sent her in for 3 more surgeries to "clean out" the incision. The last 2 were in early December and required a week in the Hospital and 6 months of antibiotics. We've had follow-up with her medical team and believe she is finally on track to healing from the original surgery. She is doing well and continues to be her happy and sassy self. Please continue to support her and the family with your prayers, sharing her campaign and giving. You can also see updates on her Facebook page - Emma's SMA Adventure

We had a great time at our Singing In The Park Benefit last night. Emma had a blast zooming around the amphitheatre. She even sang us a song. Thanks to everyone who helped it be successful!
