Our dad, Derrick McDonald, is battling stage four kidney failure. He’s now in end-stage renal disease and urgently needs a transplant to survive. At just fifty-eight years old, he still has so much life ahead of him—with five children and four grandchildren who love him deeply. We’re doing everything we can to get him on the kidney transplant list, but the his insurance doesn’t cover everything, and we’re facing major out-of-pocket costs.
For Example, To even be considered for a kidney transplant, Derrick was required to lose a significant amount of weight—and he did it. Not only did he reach the goal, but surpassed it! But now, because of the excess skin left from that weight loss, he’s being told that he needs skin removal surgery to qualify for some hospitals. Sadly, we’ve already had a transplant center deny him because of his loose skin. And to make matters worse, insurance considers the surgery “cosmetic” and won’t cover it.
This Help Hope Live campaign is dedicated to covering all of Derrick’s uninsured medical expenses related to his kidney transplant—including this critical skin removal surgery. Every donation helps us fight through the red tape and get him the care he needs to stay alive! Thank you so much for standing with us.
Much love kinfolk!!!
