Family and friends of Melanie Clyde are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Melanie has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
Melanie is a 47-year-old mother of three from Greenville, North Carolina, who has faced life-threatening complications due to liver disease (NAFLD) and past surgical challenges. After more than four years of steadily declining health, including severe pain, jaundice, and cognitive struggles, she received a lifesaving liver transplant on June 14, 2025, at the Medical University of South Carolina. This surgery marks a new beginning in her long journey toward healing.
Outside of her diagnosis, Melanie is a kind, intelligent, and compassionate soul. A former nursing student with a deep love of science – especially astrophysics – she has always been passionate about helping others. She finds joy in learning, being in nature, and making her family smile, even through her most difficult days. Despite chronic illness and limited mobility, Melanie’s warmth and resilience continue to shine.
Melanie has endured not only physical pain but also isolation, emotional hardship, and financial strain. For years, she has been unable to work or engage fully with her community, relying on family support while managing frequent fatigue, brain fog, and discomfort. Her transplant offers hope—but recovery comes with new challenges.
Melanie is now fundraising for the cost of staying near her transplant hospital in Charleston, SC, for the required 2–3 months of recovery and follow-up care. She must remain close to MUSC for twice-weekly post-op visits. After returning home to Greenville, she’ll continue monthly check-ups at their Murrells Inlet facility. Funds will help cover temporary relocation housing, meals, travel, medications, medical supplies, and essential living expenses. The total cost is estimated at $10,000 and may increase if complications arise.
This support will allow Melanie to focus on healing and rebuilding her life. She dreams of spending more time with her family, giving back to others who are struggling with chronic illness, and living a life free from the physical and emotional toll that once defined her daily experience.
Your support will help Melanie recover and step into her new beginning with strength and hope. Thank you for being part of her journey.
