Family and friends of Bobbie Ackerman are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live for relocation and other expenses associated with a Transplant. Due to the high risk of rejection after an intestinal transplant, Bobbie and her caregiver will need to stay in Cleveland for 3-6 months after transplant. Bobbie has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
Bobbie is a loving mother, grandmother, nurse who loves riding and spending time with her horse. She has had a long road of intestinal illness leading to intestinal failure from short bowel syndrome and intestinal pseudo obstruction. She has endured multiple hospitalizations, surgeries, life threatening complications and has a poor prognosis. The intestinal rehab and transplant team at Cleveland have recommended a transplant.
Bobbie requires total parental nutrition and IV hydration through a chest port everyday to maintain nutrition and hydration. She is connected to this for 16 hours a day! While it has helped her to feel somewhat better and have more energy it comes with its own risks.
The hope is to be able to get the transplant, get back in the saddle, enjoy her families and get back to living!
Thank you for all your support whether it’s financial or your thoughts and prayers!
