Family and friends of Love Jones are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Love has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
He was born Loveless Jones III, but he will leave this world simply as LOVE. And if you’ve met him, you understand why.
Love Jones is living with an aggressive brain tumor called glioblastoma. The diagnosis will ultimately end his life—but it hasn’t changed the way he shows up with purpose, compassion, and clarity every single day.
Love is the Community Engagement Coordinator at Kanbe’s Markets, a role he stepped into after first joining the team as a driver. From day one, he treated every delivery as a connection, every route as a way to give back. His dedication and care quickly became indispensable—and as his role grew, so did his reach. Today, he helps lead the charge in building meaningful relationships between Kanbe’s and the neighborhoods we serve. He calls this work his proudest achievement: not just for what he does, but for what it represents. Trust. Respect. Purpose. Belonging.
Originally from St. Louis, Love’s path to this work has been anything but easy. The years that brought him to Kansas City—and eventually to Kanbe’s—were marked by systems that punish but rarely prepare. And yet, he emerged with deep wisdom, a generous spirit, and an unwavering commitment to help others navigate what no one should have to face alone.
In his free time, Love mentors others returning to society through Second Chance. He carries the weight of lived experience with humility, turning it into guidance, into listening, into presence. He helps others find steady ground in a world that often offers very little of it. Because he knows firsthand that reentry is not a finish line—it’s a beginning that requires community, support, and grace.
Now, as his health declines, Love is preparing to step back from the work he loves. What weighs on him most isn’t the diagnosis—it’s the worry of being a financial burden to his family. Love is a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He’s spent these last years giving his time, his heart, and his energy to make up for moments lost—and to build something lasting in their place.
He deserves peace in this next chapter. To rest without fear. To be held by the same community he has so selflessly held up.
Love isn’t afraid of death. But he deserves the dignity of a life, and legacy, free from worry.
And if you’ve ever met him, you already know: Love changes everything.
