Justin Moninger suffered a life-changing injury on March 11, 2005. The impact of going headfirst into the shallow end of a swimming pool left him paralyzed from the chest down with limited use of his arms and no use of his hands or legs. Justin is currently undergoing acute rehabilitation at Craig Hospital, a world renowned rehabilitation hospital for people with spinal cord injuries, in Englewood, Colorado.
As you can imagine, Justin has low periods, but in spite of his struggles, he remains hopeful of returning to a productive life in the community and one day going back to work at Northrop Grumman, with friends and family around him. Justin wants very much to become as independent as possible. He has started both physical and occupational therapy to increase his strength and endurance and to develop skills that will help him in his daily life.
To assist Justin in achieving his goal to become independent again, a fundraising campaign has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF) for his injury-related expenses not covered by insurance. Contributors can be sure that donations will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related costs. These non-covered expenses are estimated to be over one hundred thousand dollars as he transitions into independent living, and could be tens of thousands of dollars per year for ongoing home care and medical needs.
HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that assists transplant patients and people who experience spinal cord or traumatic brain injuries. Patients all over the United States have utilized HelpHOPELive as a resource and have found them to be incredibly helpful and supportive. For information about HelpHOPELive, please visit their website at www.helphopelive.org.
If you would like to support Justin through a financial contribution:above.
As a nonprofit organization, donations are tax-deductible and HelpHOPELive provides the opportunity for corporate and foundation grants and matching gifts. If your employer offers matching funds, please obtain a matching gifts form from your HR department, fill out the portion required, and include it with your check.
Thank you for your sincere interest and support for Justin,
