Olivia’s Story
Olivia is a wonderful sister, daughter, aunt and great-aunt. She and her twin brother are the youngest of 7 children. Olivia is a graduate student pursuing studies in forensic accounting and is looking forward to graduating in the spring of 2014. Olivia was raised in Kentucky and has lived in Austin, Texas for nearly 9 years.
Olivia was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease in March 2012 at the age of 37. Since that time, she has been receiving dialysis treatments three times a week to stay alive. Olivia has struggled through many medical complications and has undergone several surgeries.
Olivia is currently on Medicare, but this will not cover all of her costs for a kidney transplant. She is currently on the waiting list at North Austin Medical Center, and is working to get listed with Temple and San Antonio. Olivia will need $40,000 to help cover the cost of a transplant, travel expenses, and the required anti-rejection medications that she will have to take for the rest of her life. Olivia needs a kidney transplant in order to improve her quality of life and cannot meet this burden alone.
To help offset her uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Olivia’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has assisted the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
