Family and friends of Sammy Check are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Sammy has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses
Sammy is 28 years old, has cerebral palsy, and a chronic severe form of epilepsy, sleep apnea, other serious life threatening medical issues including an enlarged heart and needs Immunoglobulin infusions for her impaired immune system monthly to help her fight off infections, without the IV – IG infusions this is a medical condition that is also life threatening. She is unable to walk or stand. She is wheelchair bound and considered a quadriplegic but can feel everything. Her fluctuating muscle tone related to her brain injury affects her eating, (dysphagia) and she is non-verbal. She is tube fed via a feeding tube and is diapered. She is severely cognitively impaired with respiratory issues requiring CPAP machine when sleeping.
Sammy is alert happy and loves watching and listening to Barney and The Wiggles. She loves being in the outdoors and in her community! Sammy loves dogs, and zoos. Sammy is a fan of Santa Claus!
She desperately needs a wheelchair van so we can go out anywhere with her at anytime not having to worry about reserving 3 days ahead of time for SCAT or Ambulettes. Her seizures are affecting the size of her heart now. She also has osteoporosis and a rod in her right leg from a prior femur fracture. Sammy has been through so much including 6 small bowel obstruction surgeries and a twisted bowel several times. She’s a brave and very courageous girl my daughter, since her traumatic premature birth of which after she had a stroke in the NICU.
She inspires me everyday and is my hero. Please help by making a donation to Help Hope Live in her honor and by sharing this campaign page with your community. It takes a village to help raise the money to even get her a used wheelchair van with not much mileage on it. Sammy needs your help. I need you to help me help Sammy. Thank you all so so much.
Sammy is now on 4 anti seizure meds and is doing very well. They are saying she may be a candidate for VNS. implantation for seizure control but it’s a source of infection for her being inside of her and with her immune deficiency it’s not a good idea and I won’t do it. She’s doing great right now. She unfortunately has a mildly enlarged heart related to her chronic epilepsy and right now needs no additional medication just needs to be watched and we have to find her a cardiologist. I’m so grateful I have her and she’s been doing so well despite all her serious issues and life threatening issues . I’m trying to get to do a video on line. Not sure how to do it on here.
Hi everyone. I updated Sammy’s campaign story with much more details Please feel free to read so you can see how important it is for us to get Sammy a wheelchair accessible van.
Sammy is feeling much better. She is having her typical bowel issues because of all her surgical scar tissue and the fact she has very slow motility in her bowel. She goes through pain she. She has to defecate .
Sammy is doing good she’s feeling so much better from her infections and they are gone !

Sammy has been in the hospital since Friday night past. She has a severe type of epilepsy and had a break through grand mal seizure. It turned out she had 2 different infections. And needed IV antibiotics. And had to stay on video REG for most of time Today she’s going home everyone ! I will video it when she comes home by ambulance this morning.
Sammy has been hospitalized and is stable but very sick. She will be in the hospital until at least Monday. Multiple serious issues going on requiring IV antibiotics and EEG and MRI of her brain
We will be setting up some fundraiser activities that are also fun too to collect for this fundraiser for Sammy ! Will keep you posted as I finish putting more things on here.
Hi we are raising money for Sammy to get a wheelchair accessible van. Sammy needs your help. Help Hope Live is helping us to fundraise for Sammy. We need to raise enough money to get her at least a used one to help her get more freedom in her life. She’s wheelchair bound and is total care and loves to be able to get out to social outings not only medical appts. Please know also anything you donate is a tax deduction . Helping Hope Live will help us push the fundraiser and bring more awareness to Sammy’s needs. I need to do more footwork and round up anyone who wants to volunteer to help me raise money for Sammy to get her wheelchair van. Please consider donating !

God bless my niece Samantha. By the grace of God she calls my sister her mother, and Dawn has fought a remarkable life long battle with and for Samantha. Resiliency is the name of the game, and I ask all others to join me in further enabling Dawn and Samantha's resiliency in overcoming this one more challenge they face. Thank you!!
