Tanner is a vibrant, adventurous young man whose life changed in an instant when he sustained a C5 spinal cord injury in a BMX racing accident. One moment he was chasing the finish line, the next he was facing the fight of his life.
Tanner has undergone multiple surgeries, countless hours of therapy, and long hospital stays — but through it all, his determination and sense of humor have remained unshakable. He is learning to navigate a completely new way of living, relying on medical equipment, specialized therapies, and adaptive technology to regain as much independence as possible.
The Road Ahead
Recovery from a spinal cord injury is not a sprint — it’s a marathon. Every step forward comes with significant costs:
Specialized medical equipment: Wheelchair, shower chair, standing frame, lift systems
Therapy & rehabilitation: Not fully covered by insurance, but essential for his progress
Home modifications: Tanner needs an accessible home and bathroom to live safely and independently
Transportation needs: A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is crucial for his mobility and freedom
These costs add up quickly — often exceeding what most families can handle alone. That’s why we’re rallying together.
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation helps Tanner continue therapies that will keep him strong and healthy, adapt his home so he can thrive, and cover out-of-pocket expenses insurance doesn’t touch. Every contribution — big or small — fuels Tanner’s progress and brings him closer to living his life “wide open” again.
When you give, you aren’t just funding medical bills — you’re giving Tanner the tools to chase his goals, regain independence, and keep his unstoppable spirit shining.

Today was the day.Tomorrow marks six months since Tanner’s accident. And since that very day, he has said one thing over and over:“I’m going to ride a bike again it might just look different."If you know Tanner, you know how much riding means to him.BMX. Mountain bikes. Dirt, speed, air — it didn’t matter. Riding was his joy. It was where he felt the most alive. And as a parent, questioning whether your child will ever feel that kind of joy again… it breaks your heart in ways you can’t put into words. When Tanner discovered the Bowhead and saw other quads riding, something lit up in him. He was determined. He knew that was how he would get back on a bike. And because of the incredible BMX tracks, riders, and supporters across the country who came together to raise funds… today, that dream rolled into our driveway. In this video, Dave starts out with the bike turned off, helping Tanner steer and get a feel for it.Then he turns it on… and lets him go.After some troubleshooting (which we’re still working through 😉), Tanner got on the Bowhead and rode — even if just for a few minutes. And I cried.Because that smile — the one I saw today — was bigger than any smile I’ve seen in months. Bigger than the ones you see in his videos. It was pure, real joy.All we ever want as parents is for our kids to have happy lives. To find their passion. To feel alive and hopeful.Today, Tanner did.Thank you to every single person who helped make this happen.Your kindness, generosity, and belief in Tanner gave him something priceless. We will be forever grateful. #TeamTanner#AdaptiveAthlete#NeverGiveUp#DisabilityAwareness#HopeInMotionBowhead Corp
Today we say goodbye to 2025.This year changed our family forever. In April, we lost Grandma Dawn, Dave's mom, a second Mom to me after her brave fight with cancer. In July, Tanner’s accident turned our world upside down.Since then, life has felt like a blur of hospital rooms, therapy sessions, long nights, and learning how to breathe through a new reality. There has been so much heartbreak… but there has also been so much love.We have been carried by our community.By friends, neighbors, strangers, and people we’ve never even met — some reaching us from across the world, even as far as Australia. You have sent prayers, messages, meals, gifts, encouragement, and hope when we felt like we had nothing left to give. We will never be able to fully express how grateful we are. This year also held moments of light.Dave was promoted to Line Chief, something he worked so hard for, even while showing up for our family in the middle of the hardest season of our lives.Dominic grew in ways no child should have to. While Tanner and I were in Atlanta, he learned how to be more independent, more patient, and stronger than we ever imagined. Watching him step up has filled our hearts with so much pride. And Tanner… our warrior. He has done more than doctors ever expected. He has celebrated so many wins — some tiny, some huge — and through it all he has shown grit, courage, and perseverance that takes our breath away. We are so proud of him.As we look ahead to 2026, we are choosing hope.We are especially hopeful for the ARCEX — a non-invasive spinal cord stimulation system that uses gentle electrical pulses to improve hand strength and sensation. A home version is coming, and it could be a game-changer for Tanner.Tanner dreams of getting back on a bike.We dream of traveling together again as a family. And we look forward to our new, accessible home being completed, even as we prepare to say goodbye to the house that held us through so many memories.2025 brought unimaginable pain… but it also showed us how much love surrounds us.We step into 2026 thankful, hopeful, and holding tight to the people who have carried us through it all.
