Please Help Callie Now!

On September 26, Callie was walking home after working her afternoon shift at the Flynn Theatre in downtown Burlington when a speeding car jumped onto the sidewalk striking Callie from behind. The accident caused permanent spinal cord damage – she will never walk again.

A 2023 University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Cum Laude graduate, Callie is employed with the Vermont Lake Monsters baseball team and The Flynn Theatre. She is very excited to continue her career in the sports industry – we can all join together to give her the future she deserves.

SPRING 2026 UPDATE:Callie began outpatient therapies at Spaulding in late January and continues to make progress. Her permanent wheelchair arrived late February; she is learning how to navigate it both in the home and out in the community. Until recently, Callie was not able to get in a car. Because of her therapies, coupled with a recent car modification, she has the strength to get in and out of one (with assistance.) First stops she asked her mom to drive her to? Target and the grocery store. Hopeful future next stops one day? Concerts, sporting events, and back in the workforce. Basically, getting back to life like it used to be, as close as possible. Please help her get there! Callie is still headstrong and determined as ever - she says "I want to live, and if this is how I have to do it, I will figure it out and make it happen." Callie's recovery to a "new normal" is long. Callie and her mom still face challenges - emotionally, physically, and financially. The car modification was expensive. She needs additional workouts and personal care assistance beyond her current therapies. She would like to join a specialized gym that focuses on spinal cord injuries to supplement her therapies. Medical expenses continue to rise. Callie still needs your help - please consider donating to alleviate treatment costs that help her mom manage her care plus keeps Callie on her path of recovery, strength and eventual independence with her disability.

UPDATE:After surgery at UVM Medical Center in September, Callie was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation in Boston where she underwent 6 weeks of intense therapeutic recovery.  On November 20, Callie completed in-patient rehab.  In order to continue her progress and recovery with Spaulding, which can be about another years time, Callie and her mom relocated to Boston.  They have experienced many more challenges – not just finding an accessible home, but transitioning into that home.  Callie’s financial needs have grown exponentially - not just outfitting her space so she can live comfortably but also a new vehicle was needed so her mom can transport to and from her future doctor and therapy appointments.  Also, there have been unforeseen and unexpected complications hindering Callie’s progress - her mom is her primary caregiver and temporarily unable to fully assist Callie due to injury, therefore outside help had to be hired.  While Callie’s spirit and determination have not waivered through this, she continues to need your help.  Please share her link, and during this season of giving, please consider donating to Callie’s fund. Thank you!
