Help Hope Live for Logan Reese

Logan was a beautiful, healthy 3 year old boy and on March 17th, 2025 he woke up in the middle of the night with balance and breathing issues which eventually resulted in him being paralyzed from the shoulders down over the course of just a few hours. It was caused by an extremely rare idiopathic Spinal Cord Infarction (Stroke) which affects less than 1% of all people who get strokes annually. Due to their highly uncommon nature, pediatric strokes typically result in fatalities.

He has recovered from being on a ventilator and a trachea but continues to possess minimal physical movement and feeling below his shoulders. This is a disease that will affect him for the rest of his life and the only way to improve his quality of life and hopeful movement is with continued Rehabilitation therapies which have showed promise in improvement for Logan.

Logan completed his 3rd Intensive in Baltimore with Kennedy Krieger Institute. This time, he had an extra hour of OT resulting in 5 hours a day for 2 straight weeks of combined OT and Physical therapy, targeting the connections in his left arm after his nerve transfer surgery in April. He's done exercises he loves (including "flying") and new ones without fear or hesitation. He's worked so hard and even earned a "Superstar Trophy" at the end while even giving funny nicknames to the staff. His next planned intensive is in Charlotte In August and then he returns to Baltimore in October for another round.

We also celebrated his 1 year anniversary of returning home from the hospital on June 26th. Since Logan came home he has completed:

  • 3 intensive out patient therapy clinics at Kennedy Krieger Spinal Institure in Baltimore, Md = totaling 110 hours

  • 2 intensive Therapy sessions at our local facility, NAPA, in Charlotte, NC = totaling 76 hours

  • 2 one-week intensive Therapy sessions with a separate local therapy facility for 10 hours.

  • 29 weeks of weekly therapy = totaling 174 houts

  • 1 nerve transfer surgery to hopefully bring function back to his left hand

We're really proud of his hard work, dedication, and positive attitude. We know soon, as he matures, his outlook might change, but until then, we will continue to pursue all options to try to give him a chance to get back any function possible. Thanks for following along, and look for the next update in August after his next intensive (and first day of school).

Hello everyone. Logan's done really well these last few weeks taking it easy during his "immobility phase". It was a nice break for everyone since we weren't rushing to therapy and trying to squeeze in all his daily exercises. His cast was removed on Monday, May 13th and the incisions are all healing nicely. He got cleared to return it therapy, so next week we will re-start his local therapy 2x/week and then we will heading back to Baltimore on May 31st for another 2 week intensive outpatient session.Logan also has his Pre-K Graduation next week from his school, All Star Learning Center. We can't believe we will be getting him and his twin brother ready for Kindergarten soon, but we're so proud of all they've done! All here have generously donated already and we're so appreciative of that. However, we're hoping you can help spread the word to other family members or friends who would be willing to assist on our lifelong journey to better Logan. On May 29th, in honor of Hope in Action, donations will go further than ever: Help Hope Live will cover the credit card fee for all donations made at Help Hope Live.Thank you as always for the support.
