One heart. One hope. One chance …

Hello, my name is Marcus Marrs, and I’m asking for your help as I fight for my life.

I’ve been accepted onto the UNOS heart transplant list waiting for the call that could save my life. Aside from my failing heart, I’m healthy for 69, with normal organ function.

Update on my Heart Transplant Journey:Hey everyone, I know a lot of y'all have been following along, and I’m truly humbled by all the support. I just finished my monthly visit with my cardiologist and wanted to share where things stand. We got the results back from my recent right heart cath, which measures my cardiac index (basically how well my heart pumps blood relative to my body size). A healthy range is 2.5–4.0. Mine started at 1.93, but after 500ml of fluids, it bumped up into the 2.2–2.5 range. Here’s what that means in plain English:• The PICC Line: If my index stays below 2.0, I’d need a PICC line (a permanent IV) with a 24/7 med pack. The good news? I could still work with it. The "tough" news? That’s what it takes to move up to Status 3 on the transplant list.• Status 4 Reality: Right now, I’m at Status 4. It’s essentially a holding pattern. To get a heart at this level, I’d need to be "lucky"—finding a donor that isn't a match for Status 1–3 but is a perfect fit for my weight and O+ blood type.• The Wait: Realistically, I could be at this status for months or even a year or two. Most likely, my condition will eventually need to change to move me into a more critical status to get the call. It’s a lot to process, but I’m taking it one day at a time. Please keep me in your prayers, and I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.Love y’all! ❤️

On Wednesday, I had another right heart catheterization. The goal was to check my cardiac index since I’ve been extremely worn out and tired most days. I can still get through work because it’s not very strenuous, but by the time I get home, I’m completely drained and just want to collapse in my recliner.Initially, my cardiac index came back low. The doctors gave me 500 cc of fluid because I was dehydrated, and thankfully that brought it up to the very bottom edge of normal. At one point, they thought I might need to go home with a PICC line, but for now, that’s not necessary—though it may still be a possibility in the coming months.I’d really appreciate your continued prayers. If you feel led to help in other ways, I’m grateful for that as well—but most of all, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
