One heart. One hope. One chance …

Hello, my name is Marcus Marrs, and I’m asking for your help as I fight for my life.

I’ve been accepted onto the UNOS heart transplant list waiting for the call that could save my life. Aside from my failing heart, I’m healthy for 69, with normal organ function.

On Wednesday, I had another right heart catheterization. The goal was to check my cardiac index since I’ve been extremely worn out and tired most days. I can still get through work because it’s not very strenuous, but by the time I get home, I’m completely drained and just want to collapse in my recliner.Initially, my cardiac index came back low. The doctors gave me 500 cc of fluid because I was dehydrated, and thankfully that brought it up to the very bottom edge of normal. At one point, they thought I might need to go home with a PICC line, but for now, that’s not necessary—though it may still be a possibility in the coming months.I’d really appreciate your continued prayers. If you feel led to help in other ways, I’m grateful for that as well—but most of all, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi everyone!I just wanted to give you a February update.I’ve been back to work for two weeks now, and I’m so happy. After sitting around the house for two months, I was definitely going stir-crazy! My ankle has healed nicely. I’m walking on it with very little pain. Many days I’ll take 4000 to 5000 steps. It does swell a bit by the evening, but I put cold packs on it, and by the next morning it feels really good. The doctors reduced my medication to eliminate the fainting spells that caused me to fall and break my ankle in the first place. The higher dosage had been to control my angina. I don’t know if being off work and resting for two months made a difference, but even with the reduced dosage, I’m having very few episodes of angina, which is a real blessing. When I do exert myself , I still have the angina, therefore I am being careful. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. I’m still on the heart transplant list and may be for a while. We trust God’s timing in all of this.Thank you for your continued love and support.Marcus
