Headline: Bringing Cody Home: The Road to Recovery
On September 20th, our lives changed forever. Cody, who many of you know for his caring and easy going personality, as well as his love for fishing was involved in a catastrophic car accident. He suffered a Grade 3 Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI) and spent 22 days in a coma.
Where Cody is Now Cody is currently at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. While he is in a “minimally conscious state,” we see glimpses of the Cody we love every single day. Those smiles tell us he is in there, and he is fighting to come back to us.
The Challenge Ahead We are preparing to bring Cody home to Boone, NC. Because of the nature of his injury, Cody requires 24-hour care and two people to help him move safely. To keep his recovery moving forward, we need to get him to aggressive physical, occupational, and speech therapies several times a week.
How You Can Help The costs of a wheelchair-accessible van (capable of fitting Cody and two caregivers) and the out-of-pocket expenses for specialized therapies are immense. We are asking for our community’s help to:
Purchase a modified van so Cody can safely attend his medical appointments.
Fund intensive therapy sessions that go beyond what insurance covers.
Cody is only 23. He has a whole life ahead of him, and we aren’t giving up. Thank you for your prayers, your donations, and for standing with us as we bring Cody back.
Sending lots of love and prayers!
