Laura Lee Musgrove is a brave young woman who battled end stage renal disease for 14 years. After her diagnosis in September of 1996, Laura started dialysis, which she did three times per week every week for several years. Laura received an Aortic Valve Replacement in 2009 and, thankfully, on October 12, 2010 Laura received the gift of life, a kidney transplant. The recovery process has been long and slow for Laura, but she is physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger than she has ever been.

Through it all, Laura has always made time to volunteer to feed the homeless. She attends the New Wine Family Church where she serves in the Children’s Ministry. Laura is grateful for all the support she has received along her journey to recovery and enjoys being able to give back to her community.

As you can imagine, Laura’s transplant journey has led to staggering medical bills. Even with insurance, the cost of transplantation is overwhelming. To this day, Laura still has many out-of-pocket expenses related to her transplant, including transporation to and from her follow-up visits, co-pays and deductibles, and the anti-rejection medications she has to take for the rest of her life. Because of this, Laura must continue to rely on those with giving and caring hearts.
