Life can change in an instant. For Eric Neal, that moment came with a diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome—a rare and debilitating neurological condition that causes severe muscle stiffness, painful spasms, and progressive mobility challenges. This condition has reshaped every part of his daily life, from how he moves to how he works, rests, and dreams for the future.
Despite the physical pain and uncertainty, Eric has never let his diagnosis define his spirit.
He continues to show up with courage, resilience, and grace—choosing hope even on the hardest days. But living with Stiff Person Syndrome requires ongoing medical care, specialized equipment, and essential supplies that are not always covered by insurance. These needs are not luxuries—they are necessities for comfort, safety, and independence.
Right now, Eric urgently needs:
A wheelchair-accessible van so he can attend appointments, maintain independence, and stay connected to his community.
Uninsured medical supplies/equipment to manage his condition.
Without reliable transportation and proper equipment, even simple tasks become overwhelming obstacles.
That’s where you come in.
Through this fundraiser with Help Hope Live, we are coming together as a community to lift Eric up—financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Every donation, every share, every word of encouragement sends a powerful message:
You are not alone in this journey.
Your support helps provide more than medical resources; it restores safety, accessibility, and empowerment. It allows Eric to focus on healing and living fully instead of worrying about how he will get to his next appointment or afford essential supplies.
Eric’s story is one of perseverance.
It’s about finding strength in vulnerability. It’s about choosing faith over fear. It’s about believing that brighter days are still ahead.
When you give to this campaign, you are investing in:
Independence
Mobility
Peace of mind
A future filled with possibility
No amount is too small. Every contribution moves us one step closer to giving Eric the tools he needs to live with confidence and comfort.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this story. Awareness is powerful. Compassion is contagious. Together, we can create real change.
Thank you for standing with Eric. Thank you for believing in hope. Thank you for being part of this journey.
With gratitude, The Neal Family & Support Team
Thank you to all who gave. We were able to get the car for wheelchair access. Although we were able to get the car, we will keep the campaign going because there is always a constant need. We will appreciate your love and support now and in the future.
Since we started this campaign journey, we have made 10% of our goal. We have talked to family and friends, but we cannot stop. It is too important! Next, my wife plans to start writing campaign letters to companies for help. We should see what happens. In other news, we are trying to get my treatments approved to be done at home so I do not have to go to the hospital every month. Hopefully, we hear something soon because being in the hospital for weeks at a time is never fun. You can ask anybody.
Things We Have Tried for Transportation:- METROLIFT.... Does not come to our area for pickups- Harris County "Rides" Program - Unreliable and always canceled our rides for various reasons- Medicaid - Denied 5 times- Insurance - Doesn't Cover it-Local Nonprofits - Don't meet their requirements - Our car - We can no longer put him in any car without causing him more pain. It is also just my wife! She does her best, but lifting me in the car without someone else is dangerous for so many reasons! Please consider donating, and if you cannot right now, that is okay (we will still be here next week, lol). Maybe you know someone who can. Consider sharing it personally with them (beyond social media)If not, that is okay... consider looking through the website. Seeing his story, pictures, and videos, and sharing some love by writing a note of encouragement or support on his guest book message board. No matter what....IT IS ALL GOOD!!! We love you all!
Wanted to share videos of others expereince with SPS. SPS has a spectrum of severity, so everyone's story looks different. What is the same is the pain! https://www.youtube.com/embed/IcXciWiz-S4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb1XCQ6_OlUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTqGvgJn4XUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-L6Z3PF-w0
I am living with Stiff Person Syndrome, and over the past three years, it has changed so much about how we move through the world. My family and I have handled many challenges on our own, but when something becomes bigger than we can manage, we know it’s time to ask for help. We are raising funds to help Eric get a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. He attends multiple medical appointments each month, and the cost of using a wheelchair van service averages about $200 per trip. As you can imagine, this adds up quickly—and that’s why we’re reaching out for your help!
Today was the first day I started to share my campaign. I hope my story goes out and people learn about my journey.
