Dear Friends and Family,

We are writing to you on behalf of our father, Don Benford. He is the loving husband of our mother Sharon, a caring father, grandfather, son, brother and good friend to many. Some of you may know our father as co-worker or have attended church with him. Dad has always worked very hard, been a strong Christian, and a wonderful family man. Our Dad has always been the glue holding our family together through life’s ups and downs. Anyone who has been lucky enough to know him will say he brings happiness and warmth to anyone he has known.

The reason we are writing to you today is to let you know that Dad suffers from cirrhosis of the liver and is now in end stage liver failure. Thankfully, on August 12, 2012, Dad received the Gift of Life — a life-saving liver transplant. He is recovering well from the surgery, but now faces a different challenge. Even with insurance there are many expenses associated with the transplant that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, and travel to and from the transplant center. In addition, Dad will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications.
