My past careers as an Exercise Physiologist and Fire Fighter are evident of the passion I share in helping people. This passion has continued post injury through my volunteer time with various organizations. I volunteer at Craig Hospital and speak with newly injured spinal cord patients to give them hope and a positive perspective of life post injury. I also spend time with Doctoral students of Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado and Regis University so they can develop and practice there therapy skills.
Living in Colorado, I have always loved the outdoors and sports. With the help of a variety of organizations here, I have been able to enjoy the activities I did in the past. I have tried down-hill biking, road hand-cycling, cross country skiing, water skiing, tennis, softball, and I play on the 2006 National Champion Denver Harliquins Quad Rugby team.
When I’m not volunteering or enjoying the outdoors, I am doing therapy. My spinal cord injury is “incomplete” meaning I have been getting some nerve return. My therapy consists of two times week with a Physical Therapist, once a week pool therapy, and the rest either in a gym or at home.
Life has been definitely challenging living as a quadriplegic not only mentally and physically, but also financially. The Lord has blessed me with great support and I am very thankful. A friend of my wife and I started this fundraising campaign through the HelpHOPELive for me shortly after my injury. It has been very helpful throughout my recovery and rehab. There are always continuous costs of medical supplies, therapies, and specialty equipment throughout the years so every little bit helps! Thanks to all who have donated.
For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800-642-8399.
HelpHOPELive provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to his contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses.
