Tom Schummer is a 61-year-old husband, father, and proud grandfather of four who has spent his life putting his family first. For over twenty-three years, he has been a dedicated employee of SEPTA, serving as an Assistant Director of Maintenance. Tom is also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan who loves cheering on the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers—but nothing brings him more joy than time spent with his family. Anyone who knows Tom will tell you he is kind, selfless, and always there for others.
On February 26, Tom’s life changed in an instant. A catastrophic fall left him paralyzed from the chest down. He underwent emergency surgery in hopes of restoring movement, and while he continues to fight every day in recovery, his future mobility remains uncertain.
Despite this devastating setback, Tom is showing incredible strength and determination. He is working hard in rehabilitation, pushing himself to regain as much independence as possible. Right now, he requires around-the-clock care, and the road ahead will be long and challenging.
To return home, Tom will need full-time assistance from caregivers, specialized medical equipment, and reliable transportation to ongoing therapy appointments. Unfortunately, many of these critical needs are not covered by insurance, placing a significant financial burden on Tom and his family.
We are asking for your support to help ease this burden and give Tom the best possible chance at recovery. Your donation will go directly toward his in-home care, medical equipment, and rehabilitation needs.
Tom has spent his life giving to others—now it’s our turn to give back. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
