Diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease at the age of seven, Bridget is now nine-year old girl with all the troubles of any other fourth grader. Unlike most of her classmates, she does not enjoy a care-free youth. Bridget has already been through several surgeries to correct bladder and kidney issues and will have life long medical requirements and expenses associated with kidney disease. As she grows, she comes closer to the day she will be receiving her first kidney transplant.
As her parents, we provide everything that insurance does not cover, sacrificing vacations and comforts to cover medical bills. Even with medical insurance, we face many uninsured medical and transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits and the expensive immunosuppressant medications that Bridget will have to take for the rest of her life. This is a crippling financial burden that we cannot meet alone.
To help offset some of these uninsured medically-related expenses, a fundraising campaign in Bridget’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive. NTAF is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more than 28 years. All donations are tax-deductible contribution:It’s never easy to ask for assistance, but funding Bridget’s transplant is a difficult challenge and we need your help. Your financial gifts and prayers will be greatly appreciated.
With gratitude,
Laura and Neil O’Connell
