The summer of 2012 was when everything changed for Kayla and for our family. After a terrifying health crisis, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, Transverse Myelitis and Guillain Barre Syndrome.

Now after years of doctor visits, physical, occupational and water therapies, and maintenance medications, Kayla has been told she is in remission from any possible catastrophic relapsing event! Due to the extensive nerve damage, however, it is unclear if Kayla will ever walk again.

Kayla is now 21 years old and enrolled in college with American Intercontinental University and is starting on her major in Forensic Science. In order to do this, she has committed herself to learning to live as independently as possible. Kayla is still working with her service dog Bella but now has a second service dog Daisy that can assist Kayla with mobility that her first dog Bella is not able to do.

Dear Kayla: Your grandma & grandpa were two of my best friends in high school. We still keep in touch on FaceBook and she keeps me updated. It's wonderful that you and Bella have connected and I hope
Bella is a fast learner! Prayers for you and your family.
