As some of you know, my wonderful husband “Bola” Ayinde Olugbemiga, age 42, has end-stage renal failure. Undiagnosed high blood pressure, “the silent killer,” has severely damaged Bola’s kidneys, leaving him with a choice between dialysis or death. Doctors have also informed him that his only chance at a long and healthy life is to have a kidney transplant.
Bola has much life to live and as newlyweds (married for a little over a year) we look forward to many years of marital bliss and the dreams we will realize with the transplant. Once free of dialysis, Bola will not only provide physical and emotional support to me and six beautiful children — taking care of the home, managing the chores and the homework — but also be able to return to work outside of the home.
We thank GOD for our wonderful doctors and staff at Oregon Health and Science University for giving Bola this second chance at life. But even with insurance, he will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation to the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life. This presents a financial challenge that we cannot meet alone — we need your help.
To help offset his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Bola’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Bola’s life. Please consider making a contribution. We thank you all so much for your support in prayer. If you wish to make a donation, we gratefully appreciate your gift. Thanks and GOD bless!
