YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Geraldine Pannell needs our help. She has end stage renal failure and is receiving dialysis three times a week for four hours a day. This is keeping her alive. Geraldine’s doctors at the University of Virginia have told her that her only chance at a long and healthy life is a kidney transplant.
Geraldine is active in her church and is always willing to help her community, family, and friends in every way. She has a strong faith and that sustains her through this illness. She continues to stay positive while she waits for a transplant.
Although Geraldine has insurance, it will not cover all of her transplant-related expenses. In addition to the cost of the surgery itself, there will be many out-of-pocket expenses, including hospital visits, copays and deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, and the costly anti-rejection medications Geraldine will have to take for the rest of her life. All of this presents a challenge she cannot meet without our help.
To assist with these expenses, a fundraising campaign in Geraldine’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. At times like this, the help of family, friends and the community is crucial. Geraldine looks forward to living a long and healthy life after her transplant.
