Yesenia is a sweet, funny little girl trying to live as normal a life as possible for a young child confined to a wheelchair. She is a survivor who at first was fighting for her life. Prior to this devastating event, Yesenia was on a local dance team, enjoyed playing with her two sisters and watching Hannah Montana. She is hoping to participate in wheelchair dance in the future.
This precious child has many challenges ahead of her and her family is struggling. Due to the nature of this violent event, Yesenia and her family were forced to quickly relocate. The family of five stayed in a domestic violence homeless shelter before settling in an apartment in Jersey City. The apartment is not completely wheelchair accessible and it is difficlut for her to get around. Due to her extended stay at the hospital and rehab facilities Yesenia has missed a year of school and just got back into school in April 2014.
Yesenia’s family will face many lifelong extraordinary uninsured medical expenses. This family will also have the financial burden of home modifications, handicap-accessible transportation, rehabilitation and specialized equipment.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Yesenia’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only.
For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800.642.8399.
On behalf of Yesenia and her family, thank you for your generosity, support and prayers.

I just read the story about Yesenia and my heart is so broken. How could a man who was her father shoot her in the face? He should be thankful another man stepped in to help out her mom. Yesenia may God bless you everyday you will be all you can be. To your mom, Ms. Parker keep your head up lady. You are strength and Yesenia sees it. You are her rock. I will pray for you.
